Final Fantasy VIII was Squaresoft's experiment with it's venerable RPG series. A magic system without MP, a shift towards a more cinematic direction, and along with it a change of the game's soundtrack to more of a movie style than that of its predecessors. Although some thought FFVIII was too much of a change to be playable, it's music includes perhaps the most popular of the now standard Final Fantasy songs, "Eyes on Me".
