Final Fantasy XI is a new step for Square Enix: into online gaming. In an attempt to recreate the world of Final Fantasy for users to explore, the company has left behind many staples from its previous games while harking back to elements from games VI and IX. As the world of an online game is large, so is the soundtrack written for it, which contains over a dozen battle themes and other songs that span three CDs. A mixtures of new and old melodies, it is an enjoyable collection of songs written by several composers including Nobuo Uematsu.
