La Bloga is going gangbusters with seven contributing writers including Daniel Olivas, author of "Devil Talk", several short stories, and numerous reviews for online and other magazines; Lisa Alvarado from Chicago, poet, performance artist and storyteller; and René Colato Laínez, children's book author. Find out the latest in Chicano Literature by visiting La Bloga. La Bloga was judged "Best Blog" by the magazine Tu Ciudad in its Best of Latino L.A. issue (June/July, 2006). Quote: "The writers at La Bloga plumb the increasing depths of Chicano-Latino contributions in the publishing world through book reviews, literary contest announcements, and media news. The tone is friendly with a wee bit of snark [and] the content is updated regularly ... ." Latest short story - "No Hablo Inglés" in Hardluck Stories, now online. The Borderland Noir issue is loaded with great stories by Ken Bruen, Craig McDonald and several other top-notch writers. Alexander Street Press has added the complete works of Manuel Ramos to its Latino Literature Collection. This means that students, researchers, and other subscribers have access to all my books and short stories in one electronic database source. Manuel is now part of El Laboratorio -- a think tank with several Colorado authors involved including Lorna Dee Cervantes, Angel Vigil, Sheryl Luna, Tony Garcia, Aaron Abeyta, Tim Hernandez, Emma Perez, and John-Michael Rivera. More to come from this. And here is some real news - but all I can say now is that there is a terrific short story collection in the works, carrying the working title of Latinos in Lotus Land. More than thirty new, old and in-between writers contributed to this anthology and from what I have seen, it is a knock-out. Watch for this one later in 2007. |
