Apps on the Web or the Desktop?

Unlike Google's approach in which they are moving content and apps to the web, seems to me that MS' Live Mesh,http://www.mesh.com/Welcome/overview/Overview.aspx, leverages applications on existing PCs while sharing files more easily.  Microsoft is leveraging their strong presence on PCs (Windows, Office) and throwing in remote control/access of PCs to boot.

 

I'm already a Google docs user.  Now I just need a reason to try out Live Mesh.
