Kid Stuff
One of the great joys of kayaking and kayak building for me has been sharing the experience with my daughter, as well as other kids. Kayaking with kids presents some issues. The primary issue is gear. Most commercial kid-size equipment is in the "pool toy" category and is not suitable for serious paddling. A couple of notable exceptions are Jackson Kayaks. Jackson makes a line of whitewater boats that fit paddlers down to 30 lbs. Current Designs has a new boat, the Raven, that is a kid-size performance sea kayak. Other than that, you get the joy of making most of your kid's kit (not a bad thing). This page provides links to some of the kid-related projects my daughter and I have completed.

McKinley is becoming a real hot-shot roller. She participated
in the Rolling Demonstration at the 2007 West
Coast Sea Kayak Symposium with Dubside
, Leon Sommé and
Shawna Franklin and Cathy
Miller. While there, she hit her first Bowling Ball roll, captured

Elizaga. She is rolling her Yost Sea Flea version

She also managed to hit some of the first known rolls in a cardboard kayak.
