A close up of the deck lines. We used braided nylon rope and toggles cut from an HDPE cutting board.
The toggles set into notches cut into the outrigger shaft.
The "green land" launch. McKinley states that the boat is not as comfortable as the whitewater boat (mine) that she usually gets to paddle, but it will do. One lesson learned is to size the boat larger than you currently need. McKinley had a growth spurt while we were building that has made slipping into the cockpit a bit tight.
She is very happy with her boat.
The big launch at the 5th Annual West Coast Wooden Kayak Rendezvous. We ended up having to go with a longer outrigger for maximum performance, but she took to it quite well and had me running up and down the beach behind her for several hours.
Here we are lining up for the group photo. She enjoyed getting out into the "real" water.
