SOF Construction - Page 2

The frame, ready for deck beams.
The frame, with deck beams. I am now about 6 hours into the build.
The deck beams pegged. Given the smaller dimensions of the beams and gunwales, I thought that tenons were a bit too ambitious.
The trunnels pinning the bow together.
After pegging the beams, bow and stern, I ran a line down the center to check alignment.
Bow lashing.
The finished bow.
Deck lashing. I decided to lash all of the deck beams, rather than every other, as Cunningham suggests
The bow trunnels after trimming.
Me with my new steam box. I was gathering the materials to build the box, when it struck me that I had seen a shape like that before. I recycled the strongback that I used for my strip boat into this steam box. I used a shop vac fitting (on the left of the photo) to direct the steam and drilled holes every 4 inches to thread through zip ties to use as "racks". A quick trip to Goodwill to pick up an electric kettle ($9.99) and I am ready to roll.
