The fabric around the coaming pinned in temporarily
with nails, then trimmed.

The cockpit coaming after lashing. McKinley liked
helping with this part a lot.

The first coat of polyurethane on and drying. The
skin sucked up over one-half of a quart can. I put the first coat on
clear for maximum penetration.
|
|
The temperature was in the high 90's, so the poly
was dry well ahead of the 4-hour dry time. I waited about six hours
before putting on the second coat, just to be sure.

I tinted the second coat with the "Song Bird"
paint tint. The second coat took about one-fifth of the poly that the
first coat required. I mixed the tint to the poly at about a 1:5 ratio.

|
Another view of the "Blue Bomber". The color
coat is a little blotchy, but I have about 7 more coats to go so I am
not worried.
