SWEETIE, first we've got to talk about what kind of illustration you're looking for and when you want it. Then we'll discuss your ideas or lack thereof. Then, if the schedule and (lack of) ideas are workable for both of us, we'll talk about how much you're going to pay me.
I've been trusted to do illustrations without thumbnails or comps, but this is usually for folks who've dealt with me before. If you choose this route, it'll be cheaper for you and, often, more fun for me. However, it does take a bit of trust on your part.
Let's assume you don't trust me. I will then provide you with 2-4 rough sketches, emailed as a PDF. If we haven't already, we'll discuss which medium (acrylic, pencil, watercolor, etc.) and color palette to use for the artwork. If necessary, I will re-work the

sketches for an additional fee. When one of the drawings is approved, I proceed to the final artwork.
Upon completion of the artwork, I'll email you a low resolution file for approval. Then a high resolution file will be sent according to your file requirements. We can discuss that later.
The job price is based on a number of factors: how the illustration is to be used, for how long it is used, whether the job is color or monochrome, and the area (territory) covered. The size of the print run can also affect the cost. My rates are reasonable. If I wanted wealth, I wouldn't be illustrating.
So, there you have it. I'm easy to work with, and I'm just standing here, stirring tonight's stew, waiting for you to call me with your NEXT BIG (or small) ILLUSTRATION JOB.
