Closing of Paragon Adventure Park's
Oak Ridge Location

I have a few pics from my run at the closing of the Oak Ridge Location of Paragon.  Here are just a few photos taken in the staging area. The park was very crowded, so the wheeling wasn't too great, lot's of rush hour traffic. But I am still glad that I attended.

This was my first trip in the Troop with the Aussie front locker.  I was part of a guided group of a dozen rigs. Our guide and back door were both running YJs. Half of the group were members of the FJ forum and the other half were 4 Heeps and a Durango.

Here are the rigs of the FJ forum members.

Due to the snowy/icy conditions, the owners of several rigs decided to ride shotgun and leave their rigs nice and safe in the parking lot. (The silver FJ with the roof rack in the back of the previous photo was one of these.) Our guide decided to keep us on the Green trails. Normally these are very easy.

However, with all of the traffic, the trails became very icy and slick. Here is an example of a rutted/icy hill. This 4Runner ended up having to be winched up.

The photos don't really show the pitch, but you can see the ruts. Notice how the driver's side of the yellow FJ and my Trooper is so much lower than the passenger side.

This next shot shows how slick the surface was. Notice the shine by the FJ's passenger tire.

Notice how the FJ's driver's side tire dropped into a rut.

Here is a shot of the Trooper going up the hill. Notice how the passenger wheel is off of the snow and the daylight coming from underneath the Trooper.

On the descents, the trail was even slicker. The rigs with automatics were really having trouble keeping their speed under control. A couple even got a bit sideways. Not many pics were taken of the really slick part as we were running one rig at a time and would radio to the top to tell the next rig to start. This one gives you some idea.

Notice how Yoda had to use the side of the trail to keep his FJ from sliding on slick surface.

Here is the Troop at the bottom. It doesn't look like much, but a few rigs later an out of control YJ managed to stop by hitting a large rock with his front axle!

This last shot shows how the 4Runner redeemed itself!
