April 12th Wounded Warrior Ride Through
George Washington National Forest

Since this was only a day event, we met at the Shell Station on Route 33.

We then headed up to Flagpole Knob in two groups. I waited in the second group with the Cannons in case some stragglers arrived late.  As luck would have it, a few Jeeps from VA Beach made it just before the second group left.  The ride up to Flagpole is just an easy fire trail, with a couple of tame water crossings.

We did find a mud hole to play in.

Despite the rain the previous night, the weather was near perfect, as you can see from these photos taken on the Knob.  Unfortunately no one thought to take any photos of the spread that we put out for lunch!  We had 20 pounds of meat and cheese, 20 pounds of salads, and chips.  Everyone was stuffed.

On the way down we found a hill to play on.

Then we found a nice rock obstacle.

Here is a couple of photos of the line up while the rigs tried the obstacle.

Many made it up, sometimes using the skinny pedal.  Rip and I however, decided not to break anything.  Did I say break?  Oh yes, we had some carnage.  Gadget- ripped the sidewall out of a perfectly good tire.  Allen- ripped out a brakes line and CV.  KatzTRD- ripped up a good gas tank.

When we hit pavement, some went to play at Dictum.  The rest of us washed down our rigs before heading to dinner at the Golden Corral.  Unfortunately, no one took any photos of the feast, which included door prizes.  Let me just say, that we all left stuffed.  Rip ate so much that he was worried that he'd fall asleep at the wheel!
