HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!

2008 National Festival & Ko Dan Ja

This year was the first National Soo Bahk Do Festival. This event included Moment with the Masters, seminars, the Nationals Competition, and the first part of the Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa. My senior student and brother Sa Bom Nim Mike Kelly was an O Dan Candidate and Kyo Sa Nim Rich Lauer was a Sa Dan Candidate. Sa Bom Nim Mike Kelly, Master Cullen, and Master Stohl presented a high quality demo on Tuk Seo Deh Ryun. They were invited to demonstrate at the banquet. The Region 7 Sparring Team won 1^st Place for the 5^th year in a row. Kyo Sa Nim Middendorf was on both the Sparring Team and the Hyung Team. He did very well.

My Instructor Sa Bom Nim Seiberlich was promoted to Ku (9^th) Dan. He is the senior active practitioner under the Kwan Jang Nim.

Sa Bom Mike Kelly did very well on his test for O (5^th) Dan. This year was unique in that no-one was immediately promoted. All candidates will enjoy a 6 month opportunity to absorb their Ko Dan Ja experience and reflect on what they have learned and need to improve on. Final promotions will be in March. I am proud of Mike, he did well.

We had a good time at the National Festival. I encourage those who can attend in 2009 to go for it.
