Ehyup, it's one of those immodest
personal web-page beasties from the pre-Facebook era (which I'm now on). Though
I’ll be honest, I prefer not to “friend” anyone with about 100 friends or more
(because I figure they’re generally collecting them and then I end up with a
lot of feeds)… otherwise, I’m easy. J

The police mug shots reveal a
male that is about 5’10” tall and has smashed through the speed limit... now an
unbelievable 60 years old (pics to follow below). I’m
a professor in the Basic Science Division at University
of Western States (formerly the College of Chiropractic). I also teach at a
couple of other colleges on occasion - notably National College of Natural
Medicine; supposedly I know a fair bit about genetics, physiology, cell biology
and histology. I’m from Bellevue, Washington (a Seattle bedroom community about
175 miles to the north of my current location). Helen is my LOVERLY
wife, and I have two wonderful kids (well, adults now actually), Carly and
Alex.
WHERE is this guy?
I’ve
lived in Portland, Oregon since January of 1980. Specifically, Helen and I can
be found living on a hill on the west side of Portland (in the
"Hillside" or "King's Heights" neighborhood - above the NW
23rd district or just below Pittock Mansion). Here
are a few photos of the place from the
outside (though these shots date from 2005 and are getting a bit dated).

You can e-mail Mark at home at mark_kaminski@comcast.net
or at work at mkaminski@uws.edu. No, I’m
not
in the Portland telephone book. You can contact Helen at
hsw1515@comcast.net .
Son Alex lives in Lake Oswego and Carly, who married a couple of years back, lives in Klamath
Falls (with her husband, Mike).
Oh, wait, you can also leave a message at my
DRIVE-THRU WINDOW!!!! <snicker>

Having always liked gardens,
here is a shot of ME taken in the conservatory of Queen Elizabeth park in Vancouver, BC,
Canada (1996). I have been accused of being interested in too many things (and,
as they say, master of none)… including pounding on the piano; classical and
jazz music; stereo/audio gear; collecting first edition Twain and assorted
others (which I can't afford anymore); exploring libraries and old bookstores;
computing (including making web-pages like the one you’re currently reading or
silly ones like this); electrical
wiring; remodeling (though, having done just about all one can do with a former
house, I think this may finally be out of my system); electronics and amateur
radio (my call-sign is N7ALJ - though I hardly use it anymore); and, um,
astronomy (with my 10" Odyssey telescope). I’ve always been a tinkerer. My
strange fascination with original MINIs has waned a bit since selling all that
I had (first a beloved 1962 MINI, and then a 1973 MINI Cooper); if you're
interested in learning more about the famed, former, "Boinkmobile,"
just click HERE and see my special "Mini" page. Now I’m into my 1959
Austin Healey Frogeye (Bugeye) Sprite with the Boink plates.
I love
to travel, and I used to make up travel pages for the web (but Helen would
rather I didn't put them out here now). So I must report that
the old 1996 East Coast journey and the 1998 England trip are no longer up here
(and, besides, they dates from an earlier life). I even pulled the 2003
Australia one, but managed to leave the 2002 Hawaii one (at Hawaii), where I went with just my kids. Helen and I
have taken other, wonderful, trips including one in June/July ’04 to
Scotland/England, to Italy in March/April '05, France in June/July '06, eastern
Europe (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Croatia and Solvenia) in '07, Spain/Portugal in '08, Turkey in '09,
Southern Germany, Switzerland and Austria (and Scotland) in '10, southern Italy
here in '11, and to Mexico a couple of times (Puerto Vallarta and Cancun), but
I don’t have webpages for those available.
Here's a relatively recent shot (?) of Helen and me in
Cabo (Sept. 2005), and there is a shot of me at the
UWS website above (in there buried in the academic section here),
and finally here is a “portrait-style” shot of me
eleven years ago (summer 2000!). OK, enough.

Other Important Folks In My Life:
Helen
(shot from the wedding in 2005) is the love of my life.
Carly
(shot for graduation from high school in April 2000) graduated from the
University of Oregon in June 2004... and is
living/working in Klamath Falls. Her husband is Mike.
Alex (shot taken in March 2002 – for his graduation from high school)
has graduated from OSU in mechanical engineering, and got a job in that field!
His interests wander about a bit, but he likes computers and computer gaming.
My relatively immediate Kaminski
family is rather small. My folks are gone, but I have three younger siblings in
the general Seattle area (a sister in Bellevue, a sister on Whidbey Island and
a brother in Snohomish); each of them has kids so I’ve got an assortment of
nieces and nephews.

THE END
I don't update this page very much, but have
just sort of revised it here in September 2012.
Any feedback on the pages would be
greatly appreciated. It’s just a minor distraction, but kinda
fun.
