Systems Requirements

Quartet is a unique end-to-end software configuration management (SCM) solution tool. SCM Labs’ four-part SCM methodology is built right into Quartet. As a result, your team can quickly and easily understand not only the tool and its functionality, but how to use it to the greatest advantage.

Competitively priced, end-to-end SCM.
You get an end-to-end SCM solution for about the price of a version control tool. Quartet gives you the most effective integration of these four essential components of SCM:

  • Version Control
  • Build Control
  • Change Control
  • Dependency Control
Easy to Implement.
Quartet’s time from box to productive use in your organization is the shortest of any tool in its class.

You save time and money as your teams develop software faster--it’s that simple.

Distributed architecture
And an application server at no extra cost.
You get the speed, efficiency and scalability of distributed architecture without the added expense of most application server implementations. We’ve bundled the standards-compliant JBoss Open Source J2EE application server with every copy of Quartet 2.0.

And as always, Quartet comes fully-loaded for one very competitive price. You don’t pay extra for the features you want most.

Enhanced Change Request functionality
Change Control is a key element of effective SCM and the basis for automated workflow. With Quartet 2.1, you get Change Request processing with the functionality and features that most increase your team’s productivity.

  • User-defined CR fields Now you can customize CR processing with an unlimited number of user-defined CR fields.
  • Export CRs in CSV format for custom reporting Easily create and format reports by exporting CR data in CSV format, importable into many popular spreadsheet and database applications. And because CR filtering extends across projects in Quartet 2.1, you get even more flexibility in CR reporting.
  • Easily copy and move CRs between projects
CRs now move easily between projects and subprojects, giving you increased flexibility in CR management. It’s easy to sort, assign and reassign CRs efficiently with Quartet’s new CR move and copy functionality.
Attach documents to Change Requests and files
An unlimited number of documents--in any format--can be attached to Change Requests, files and other objects in the Quartet repository.

Secure Socket Layer (SSL) security
Protects your software assets as they travel around the office or around the world
Quartet gives you industry-standard SSL technology, providing authentication and encryption security.

Associate Change Requests and file versions
You get the option of automatically associating file check-out and check-in to the Change Request that required the modifications.

Subscriptions: Automatic notification of system Events
Every action in Quartet creates an Event that can trigger a notification. The Subscriptions feature automatically sends email notification when specified Events occur. Users identify which Events they want to be notified of, and Quartet does the rest.

Release-based SCM
Interchangeable “units” are easier to organize and share
Quartet is based on the premise that all software files are best packaged as complete releases. Files in any given release travel together as complete units. Releases don’t depend on development team members remembering which files belong in each release.

Build projects with one-button GUI functionality
Use the automated Build feature in both the GUI and command-line interfaces.

Platform independent: 100% Java
Platform-independence in a portable, scalable tool.

Sub-Project feature
Keeps track of relationships between Quartet projects
Any project within the Quartet repository may be defined and tracked as a Sub-Project. With this feature, releases of one project can include releases of other projects.

Integrate your development tools with Quartet
You can integrate Quartet with most popular interactive development environments (IDEs), including Visual Studio, Visual Basic, HomeSite, Powerbuilder, Visual C++ and others.
