Mystics speak of growing god-like through the role of the Holy Spirit played in bringing about a "successful" conversion; the ability to to turn inward to one's soul where god resides; first clear out and weed the "garden of the soul" of all rubble--here the work of "transformation" can begin; "the divine birth in the soul of man." This led to cloistered monastic life.
