Macintosh Users Group

Why join a users group? Why join EAMUG??

At a meeting, Mac users meet other Mac users and learn from each other. They are able to borrow the group's library items, such as MacAcademy's AppleWorks 6 training CDs. And to call another member when they are having computer trouble. Get practice hearing and understanding all that language that describe computers and their functions.

Just the other day User Group President Mary Lou Dobson saved $100 on a one year subscription because of a User Group Vendor Offer.... She also saves $$ every time she orders a book from PeachPit Press, Adobe Press, or O'Reilly.

EaMUG members get tips on using their Macs at every meeting. Sometimes they find out how easy it is to do something with their Mac that they never even thought of. Like iMovies. They also learn what this is for or what that is for. There is plenty of opportunity to ask questions. And Mac users love to share their knowledge.

Member writes: After seeing his iron-on transfers (at the September meeting) I made 4 T-shirts for a friend's birthday, one of those "over the hill" theme parties. It is nice to be able to present custom made, individualized designs that don't look homemade. It was almost hard to stop making T-shirts, it's addicting seeing the design come off the computer screen onto a shirt so easily. Another benefit of the EAMUG, I never would have thought iron-on transfers had that kind of quality and wouldn't have thought to use them for the party had it not been for the club.

Meetings help members use scanners, or digital cameras, because they get to experience a live demonstration of how it can be done, or which is the best one to get. Members see how to send photos in email, how to make an address book, how to store pictures in iPhoto. A demonstration of how to build a web page. Or use a utility that came with their Mac.

Member Nancy Eckart brings in samples of how she uses her creativity in making and personalizing greeting cards and invitations to fit different occasions. Posters, envelopes, labels. Her scrapbooking examples are great to see, too. Without the user group we wouldn't be able to see those things that can be made on the Mac.

Lois Kaczor shares her expertise in AppleWorks and Print Explosion.

Members can attend the monthly Board Meetings as well and socialize over Dutch Treat lunch at the Elks Club.

You can attend free the first time. Otherwise it's a dollar a month on an annual basis. 'Nuff said? Come to our next meeting!
