Danbury is sponsoring the fourth annual Walk of
Honor, on Sunday, September 10, 2011 at 12:00PM to pay tribute
to the country's veterans - both past and present. It will be
held in conjunction with the Taste of Danbury and will begin on the Danbury
Green on Ives Street and loop through White Street, Patriot Drive,
Liberty Street and Main Street. Click here

“I
strongly encourage our residents to bring their family and friends to
this walk. This is a great opportunity for us to come together to show
our troops that we are thinking of them and that we support them,”
says Mayor Mark Boughton.
Photographs and a video of the event will be sent to our soldiers
overseas in an effort to keep our troops’ morale and spirits up, and
to let them know they are not alone.
“The Walk of Honor, is a small token from
the community, to the families of our service men and women, to the
armed forces past and present and to those who unselfishly gave
their lives. So,
please join us in honoring this elite group of Americans who
encompass the true meaning of Freedom,”
says
Mary Teicholz, organizer and founder of the event.
All families are encouraged to join the walk (rain or
shine) to help show their pride in our country and our servicemen
and women.
