Meet Mashke
Mashke consists of six musicians with a wealth of backgrounds and experiences.
Dick Rosenberg
Dick is the leader of Mashke and plays Clarinet, Tenor Sax and Bass. Dick has been playing music for over 25 years. He is versed in all forms of Jewish music, American folk music, American pop music, Classical, Rock and Jazz. Emily Worobey
Emily is the band’s female vocalist. Her musical interests range from liturgical melodies to Israeli folk and pop songs to folk songs in the Anglo-American tradition. She is a former member of the Zamir Chorale and teaches music and serves as a Cantorial soloist at area synagogues. She enjoys working with children and insuring their participation and enjoyment. Barry Shapiro
Barry Shapiro plays accordion and keyboards. He has a strong background in Jewish music as well as Jazz and other American forms. Barry is a veteran of the New England folk dance scene and teaches our Israeli dancing. He is a founding member of the Klezmer Conservatory Band and Shirim. Mike Frank
Mike is our guitar player/rock singer. He leads the party games and dances. He is an expert balloon hat maker. He has been a part of the Boston music scene for almost 30 years. He also entertains at children's parties as Mike the Hat Man. Alan Alpert
Alan Alpert is our bass player, trombonist, backup vocalist and general bon vivant. He is a veteran of first the New York City and now the Boston music scene. Mike Shapiro
Mike is the band’s drummer. He has played for several bands in the Boston area. Mashke Plays for Weddings, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Simchat Torah celebrations, Parties, synagogue affairs (annual meetings, dinners, etc.), picnics, etc. We also feature a lecture and concert on the History of Klezmer music.
