Heading Home Part 4

All good things must come to an end and it's time to head home. I'm a little concerned about the amount of tread I have left so I'll take a fairly direct route. But first I'll explore some of the great routes between Torrey and SLC.

A view from Hwy 72 looking back towards Torrey, UT. What a great road.

Another view from Hwy 72 looking towards Capitol Reef National Park.

Electric Lake on Hwy 264, elevation 8700 feet. This area offers some really outstanding riding off the beaten path.

The following Day I ran into Paul Geller (the headlight guy) and Mark Meyer at Lake Bonneville Rest Area on I-84 in Idaho. Three grey ST's. For another year running, my ST was the only matte grey ST to attend Madness.

I had 282.9 miles on this tank when I fueled in Glenns Ferry, ID. I was glad to finally find fuel but I needn't have worried as I still had over half a gallon left. That would have taken me well over 300 miles on one tank and shows what is possible when speeds are kept to 65-70 mph.

Back to the clouds and lush greenery of Western Washington. Sultan, WA with Haystack Mountain in the background. My tire saving strategy had been so effective that I had enough rubber left to take a longer and more scenic route including a couple of mountain passes ridden in a less conservative manner. This resulted in the first performance award of the trip just hours from home. I'll be home in a bit over an hour for a trip total of 4,787 miles through Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and Utah for another successful Madness Tour. Thanks to all who helped make it happen!
