Explanation of the conversion: Although this write-up is intended for the Generation One Fireflight, it also works
for him in Cybertonian form or Generation Two form.
History (Marvel comics): Beachcomber, Blaster, Cosmos, Perceptor, Powerglide, Seaspray and Warpath were part of an
Autobot team on Cybertron in the Earth year 1986. They battled the Decepticons lead by Straxus over the Space Bridge and
the Autobots were stranded on Earth (Transformers #18).
Under the order of Optimus Prime, Wheeljack used data taken from observing Devastator to create the Aerialbots.
Blaster and his fellow Autobots from Cybertron were then captured by Circuit Breaker and her Rapid Anti-Robot Attack Team,
taken to her lab and then disceted (Transformers #21-22).
Circuitbreaker then captured Autobots Air Raid, Fireflight, Silverbolt, Skids, Skydive and Slingshot. Using the parts from
the captured Autobot all she created a giant Autobot with herself in control, striking a deal with them that if they would
co-operate she would let them go. Circuitbreaker then used them to attack the Decepticon Battlechargers Runabout and
Runabout who were attacking the Statue of Liberty. After defeating the Decepticons Circuitbreaker the Autobots were
released (Transformers #23).
If Aerialbots needed pilot's licenses, Fireflight would certainly never have gotten his. He's a definite
hazard in the skies. He becomes mesmerized by the spectacular views he sees from above, and, consequently, often pays
little attention to where he's going, leading to near-crashes with buildings, mountains, even other aircraft. Only constant prodding by his fellow Aerialbots keeps Fireflight's mind on his assigned tasks, but they can't get angry at him - they realize his carelessness is a result of what humans would call "a childlike sense of wonder," and they can hardly fault him for that. Still, flying alongside him is definitely unnerving to the other Aerialbots; "Sometimes I wonder whose side he's on," says Skydive.
Trivia: On the Transformers television show, the voice of Fireflight
is played by actor Jeff McKay. Fireflight was reissued as a Generation Two
Transformer with slight color changes. Fireflight shouldn't be confused with Fireflight II, an Autobot who turns into a
jet, or Fireflight III, an Autobot Micromaster who turns into a jet.
Powers: Fireflight is tough and brave. He can fly at speeds up to Mach 2.0 with a range of 1000 miles. In jet
mode, he can shoot missiles that explode and release a mist of highly flammable liquid he calls "fire-fog." In robot mode, he uses a photon displacer gun, which severely distorts visual images by altering the course of photons in light waves. Anyone within the vicinity of a blast from this gun would not be able to see things as they actually are until after the gun's effects wear off, which can take up to five minutes. He forms the left arm when he combines with the other Aerialbots, Air Raid, Silverbolt, Slingshot and Skydive, to form the giant robot known as Superion.
Weaknesses: As well as being a danger to others. Fireflight is even more of a danger to himself. He just flies badly, and any human
passengers inside his cockpit would all too quickly discover this fact - his sudden jerks, jolts, hairpin turns and rapid
velocity changes can easily result in a severe neck sprain, at the very least. His poor flying technique also makes him
very fuel inefficient.
