Explanation of the conversion: Silverbolt can only use his cannon in robot mode and uses his battery only in jet
mode. The battery draws Endurance from the END Reserve. Although this write-up is meant to represent Silverbolt in his
Generation One form, it also works for his Generation Two form.
History (Marvel comics): Beachcomber, Blaster, Cosmos, Perceptor, Powerglide, Seaspray and Warpath were part of an
Autobot team on Cybertron in the Earth year 1986. They battled the Decepticons lead by Straxus over the Space Bridge and
the Autobots were stranded on Earth (Transformers #18).
Under the order of Optimus Prime, Wheeljack used data taken from observing Devastator to create the Aerialbots.
Blaster fand his fellow Autobots rom Cybertron were then captured by Circuit Breaker and her Rapid Anti-Robot Attack Team,
taken to her lab and then disceted (Transformers #21-22).
Circuitbreaker then captured Autobots Air Raid, Fireflight, Silverbolt, Skids, Skydive and Slingshot. Using the parts from
the captured Autobot all she created a giant Autobot with herself in control, striking a deal with them that if they would
co-operate she would let them go. Circuitbreaker then used them to attack the Decepticon Battlechargers Runabout and
Runabout who were attacking the Statue of Liberty. After defeating the Decepticons Circuitbreaker the Autobots were
released (Transformers #23).
Silverbolt was among the united Autobot and Decepticon forces who opposed Unicron's assault on
the planet Cybertron in 1991 (Transformers #75).
Silverbolt is scared of heights. It is this one trait, above all else, that determines the rest of his behavior. He
projects the image of a brave, grimly determined warrior, befitting his role as Aerialbot Commander. In truth, he is just that, but it is a constant struggle for him to maintain this persona, to never falter or show any sign of emotional weakness to those he leads. Helped by the sleek, aerodynamic jet form that makes him appear to be a natural-born flyer, Silverbolt knows that everything about him belies even a hint of the existence of his phobia, and, in fact, no one is aware he has this problem, except Optimus Prime. It is for that reason the Autobot Commander selected Silverbolt to lead the Aerialbots - Optimus figured if Silverbolt felt responsible for the welfare of others, he'd have less time to worry about himself. Given that Silverbolt is an excellent leader, Optimus was right.
Trivia: On the Transformers television show, the voice of Silverbolt is
played by actor Charles Adler. Silverbolt was reissued as a Generation Two
Transformer in a blue color. There was also a Chinese made version of Silverbolt which was slightly smaller than the
original. Silverbolt should not be confused with Silverbolt II, a Maximal who turns into
an eagle, or Silverbolt III, a Maximal who turns into a wolf/eagle hybrid and was reformatted
to become a techno-organic condor.
Powers: In jet mode, Silverbolt can reach Mach 1.9 and has a range of 4500 miles. He carries on his underside an electrostatic battery, which allows him to strip electrons from air molecules as he's flying and store them. He can then direct this stored charge through his nose cone as a powerful bolt of electricity. He's capable of storing and releasing up to 150,000 volts at a time. He's especially effective in lightning storms, due to their abundance of charged particles. He carries a stress fracture cannon in robot mode.
Silverbolt can also form a jet launcher base. He forms the body and head when he combines with the other Aerialbots, Air Raid, Fireflight, Slingshot and Skydive, to form the giant robot known as Superion.
Weaknesses: As long as Silverbolt is busy leading or fighting, he's fine, but when he's simply flying, particularly
by himself, his fear of heights begins to manifest itself. The effect can be devastating: he might start flying wildly, go
into a tailspin or even crash.
