In the fall of 3998, on the first day of his junior year at Electron Preparatory Academy, he walked past a garbage can and saw the feet of a freshman sticking out of it. When he pulled the freshman out, he was surprised to see that it was not a stereotypically nerdy boy who had been abused this time. It was a girl, the most beautiful girl he had ever seen, except for what looked like a computer of some sort where her nose should have been. The girl introduced herself as Amber Parallax, the daughter of the famous superhero Dr. Parallax, and explained that her electronic nose often made her the subject of ridicule for bullies and scorn from most boys. Colin and Amber quickly fell in love. Two years later, when Colin graduated and continued to the University and Amber went on home study to pursue a career in superheroics, they decided to continue their relationship even though they would not see each other as often.

But Amber's superhero partners were not nearly as comfortable with this relationship. Instead of welcoming him into their home, the other Unlikely Heroes greet Colin with misinformation and prejudice based solely on his being different from them. Colin now must look for ways to bring unity between himself and Amber's partners, breaking down the stereotypes that they have about his kind.
