Personal
Happy New Year!

It's certainly a happy one for me. I just finished
student teaching before Christmas, and I have
completed my Post-baccalaureate program at
Bridgewater State College. What's that mean?
• I'm done with school for now. (Yay!)
• My teaching license moves up to the next level (MA Initial teaching license in Physical Education, 5-12).
• I have a whole lot more free time on my hands.
• The website will undergo some serious updating.
• I need to find a real job. (Yikes! Well, at least I'm highly qualified...)
So, stay tuned for updates, and wish me luck.

I'm Certifiable.

My teaching / work / school obligations are
approaching the 90-100 hour a week range, so don't
hold your breath waiting for updates until mid-May.
(Sorry!). On the bright side, I just received my
'unofficial results' from the Massachusetts subject
area test for Physical Education (MTEL -MA test for
educational licensure) and I passed so I'm eligible
for provisional licensure. I'm going to student teach
so I will skip that step and go straight to initial
licensure, but it's nice to know it is there if I
need it.
From Shaolin Kempo to Kempo Jutsu

I was asked a good question on the forum
'MartialArts Planet' about the relationship
of Shaolin Kempo to the Kempo Jutsu of Professor
Feliciano 'Kimo' Ferreira, as I've been studying
with Professor Kimo since late 2001. The person
asking was John Bishop, Kajukenbo Professor,
and author of the recent book
Kajukenbo the Original Mixed
Martial
Art.
After typing the answer, I thought, hey,
this might make a
good article for the web site. Thanks
to Professor John Bishop for prompting me to put
my thoughts down on (electronic) paper.
I went to a Fumio Demura Seminar

A couple of years ago I went to a Fumio Demura
seminar. I had penned a review, but had never gotten
around to posting it. Well, here it is.
Let me know you're out there
