Dear Sir or Madame,

I am currently a Mechanical Engineering Graduate Student at Bucknell University in the heart of Pennsylvania.  I have worked hard during these past years and while I look forward to my continuing education, I am also hoping to use what I have learned in real world applications.

I consider my strongest areas to be those that interest me the most, these are primarily Robotics and Mechanical Design.  In addition to being a proficient Mechanical Engineer, I also have a great interest in Electrical Engineering and its applications to Mechanical Engineering.  I have taken every opportunity to work in collaborative projects and take classes with Electrical Engineers increase the breadth of my knowledge.  Examples of these are a “Mechatronics” course which dealt with Electrical topics like programmable microcontroler use and data collection problems, as well as an “independent study” in conjunction with a group of Electrical Engineers in which I performed the design and fabrication of a fully autonomous robotic vehicle capable of exploring its surroundings.  Lastly, I’m the also the lead ME in the creation of a Bucknell BattleBotä to compete in December!

In addition to engineering knowledge I also have considerable experience for someone of my age in the areas of project and operations management.  I currently run my own business, which employs eight other professional DJ’s and provides music services at parties.  I am able to run this business thanks to the contacts I made while running Bucknell’s Radio station. As Programming Director, I was directly responsible for over 60 DJ’s and the execution of their duties. I also work part time at the Pennsylvania Small Business Development Center in exchange for tuition remission at Bucknell.  Here, I am the lead engineer on countless projects where I provide the engineering services necessary to develop the ideas of Pennsylvania businesses and entrepreneurs into reality.   In addition I was also recently given the task of managing the division of labor and tracking the progress of all the other SBDC engineers.   All these activities have given me skills and maturity that I believe will be extremely useful in the professional arena.

Not only do I have a great deal of knowledge and experience to offer, but I would also welcome the chance to continue to learn and grow.  I consider myself an excellent learner and believe I can do well in any situation I am  faced with.  I am also completely willing to learn any new skills necessary to complete a task.

            Sincerely,
