This is my web page.. I am changing some of the pics again. Actually, I am just adding more pics. There is no rhyme or reason to the order. Generally the graphite pencil drawings came first, colored pencil, and pastels next, watercolor, then acrylic and oils. The clay work is ongoing. I love what I am doing in art. It feels right. I don't know if I will ever get a degree, but does it really matter? I like being involved in the art community and getting to know other artists. Those are my thoughts on my web site and art. please feel free to comment.

This is me. At least it was me when I did it. This is a mirror image.. how I saw myself in the big mirror leaning against the wall. This is acrylic pain on 24x36 canvas board. It was my final project in my intermediate figure class to do a life size self portrait.

Here is my first watercolor.. no colors. I only used black paint and water.. I built up to the color thing..I would like to put it up on the wall but Sherry thinks I am out of my mind. I am actually out of my mind, but I am enjoying the view from here.

This picture is from a photo by
Irving Penn from his Earthly Bodies exhibition. I really like this one
a lot. I liked the photograph also. This fall, (2004) I will be taking
figure drawing, finally. I can't wait. This clay sculpture was completed in April of 2006. The image here is the still damp clay just after completion in the dining room/studio. I would estimate it is about 3/4 lifesize. I used about 3.5 bags (25# each) of clay.
As I type this, it is sitting in the kiln candling and waiting to be bisque fired. I hope she makes it. This figure is an 18x24 oil on canvas board. I did it in black and whilt and then glazed it. A technique I learned from Mick Sheldon in his painting class. This was from the Fall of 2005. Here is a watercolor Amelia sitting in Rio Java Cafe waiting for a cup of chai tea. I guess I should mention that this picture was accepted into the 2006 American River Review (the one with the red cover) and can be found on page 122.
This is Mr. Scary. It was named by Sherry. I had it on a small easel on the floor in the bedroom and it spooked her for some reason. She started calling it Mr Scary and I guess it stuck. Here is a watercolor of some
flowers I found in a courtyard on ARC campus.
Here is
the gnome and little gnome in the corner of the living room. I think
they will probably live in the back yard. Up to this point, I have been
doing strictly observational art. I guess you could say this is also. I
was merely looking at a picture that was in my head. this is a study on
a quartersheet for a larger version. I am having some ideas.
Here is a picture of a beautiful
young woman.
This is a pencil drawing. a
partial copy of Vermeer's "Girl with the pearl earring". I think that
is the correct name of the painting.
With this 9x12 pencil drawing of
an egg on a somewhat folded tee shirt, I won Best of Show in the
American River College student art competition in spring 2003. No one
was more surprised than I. In 2004, I entered 3 pieces and did not even
make it onto the wall. BTW, I did get on the gallery wall with Amelia's pic (above)
It's me! Really.. in a mirror.
Ok.. close maybe..Err.. most people like the trees better. he hee..
Here is a copy of Picasso's
"Olga Pensive" in pastel, done for my drawing class in the fall of
2003.
Here is a tree I found on ARC
campus. I am trying not to copy other peoples work any more.
Ok, ok.. I found this picture in
a magazine and I just had to do it. Besides, I did this before I said I
was not going to copy other people's stuff. The original picture was
taken with a pinhole camera using a finger as a shutter in the
photographers mouth.
Its Me!!.
