SONGS
All Will Be Well The refrain is adapted from a verse by Dame Julian of Norwich, a Christian hermit and mystic of the 14th century. Her words were meant for those facing the Black Plague. The verses are from Easter time readings in which Jesus tells the disciples not to fear.
Behold the Savior Rise An Easter entrance hymn to be done as an anthem. Loosely based on 1Cor15, it should be done strongly but not too fast. It is short so all 4 verses can be done without dragging anything out.
Children of the New Day 1John2 is the basis of this hymn that's been one of the most favored of all the hymns I've written. It was originally written as an Easter hymn, but has also been used for baptisms - and with the fourth verse added it has been used for First Communion. The refrain can be done with lots of volume, but the verses should build from p(soft) to mf(moderately loud). I've reworked the verses for this website version. You can also find a version with four different verses meant strictly for first communion in the Ordinary Time Page
Come Holy Spirit The greek word 'metanoia' means a change of heart. That's what the early Christians were called to, and that's what we are stilled called to! Let go and let the Spirit of the Most High move our spirits to greater love, greater peace and greater understanding of what we're called to do - in God's name!
The Day of The Lord This is a hymn for Easter Sunday Morning calling the congregation to "cast off the night" and awake to the new day of salvation.
Go Now Together In My Name This song was written as a recessional for the first Mass of a friend of mine. The commissioning of the disciples in Matt. 28 and Luke 9 is the setting for the hymn.
Kindle The Fire This is a pretty high-spirited(pun intended)song! It's one you can let loose with on Pentecost or any other time the Spirit moves you.
Rejoice, Children of God This can be used foe the Easter season as well as for first communion.
Spirit Of The Lord This song was written for Confirmation, so it works well for Pentecost, of course. It is fast paced but should not be done too loudly. The accompaniment ought to be as simple as possible to not overshadow the lyrics.
This Holy Day This is an Easter song as is pretty apparent from the lyrics. It is a joyful proclamation of the resurrection describing the scene from Matt 28:5-8 when the women arrive at the tomb. The tempo and tone of the song should be upbeat and the refrain can be repeated several times at the end of the song by allowing the last 5 notes (and 4 words) to replace the first 5 notes, thus starting the refrain over.
