About your host -- I'm Mark McClain, of Salem, Virginia, and I have been enjoying canoe camping trips for 25 years or so. I've organized and led river trips for the Sierra Club, Dallas Downriver Club, Texas Committee on Natural Resources, and North Texas River Runners. On our canoe camping trips we paddle an Old Town Penobscot 16. When Diana isn't able to be my paddling partner, I use the Sawyer Loon solo boat.
I stay busy in "retirement" as a volunteer for several local environmental organizations and at a local hospital, and I serve on a regional greenway commission.
