johnsportfolio I created the logo design initially, then went on to create ...
Primarily I like web designing in my spare time, I am slowly learning new
technologies such as Digital Video and Photography, but I will
always be making web sites.
How do I design sites ?
Well there have been a number of methods that I use, firstly I started
off the same way that nearly all designers start, hard coding every page.
I did this simply to learn the background of designing a site,
and the HTML code that produced it.
I use prorams such as Fireworks and Photoshop to optimize and export my images to the web. Optimizing is essential to
every web page so that it loads faster.
I soon learned the majority of the code and wanted to save time.
Now I use a combination
of pure code, and Dreamweaver, which produces professional results.
My designs now follow a regular pattern ....
Firstly I open my standard template in to Photoshop or Fireworks,
and create the entire design in there. I always design sites to fit in
800x600. However, nearly all my sites
re-size to any resolution, which can be a really big advantage
and looks good.
Next I slice the image up into tables and import for
final adjustments in Dreamweaver. It is here that i add
my own code and adjustments to the site
Once the overall layout gives what I am after, I can then apply style
sheets (CSS) to the main content page, which sets fonts and hyperlink
colors, table colors scrolls bars etc.
Finally after getting the look just right, I open the site in multiple browsers,
and perform several fixes that usually occur with
browser compatabilities. It is now when I have
to rearrange things so it conforms to all standards, then i can incorperate flash into my pages.
FEATURED SITE
I have just launched my online portfolio,"Johns Portfolio", which is one of my most comprehensive sites to date so far. With flash, image rollovers, and css.
Updateable page content and flash / html content.
This is one of my most favorite Sites to date. I recommend
a viewing!
