This subject is a tuft one but I am going to try my best to explain how I see it.

1Co14:34 Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says.

1 Co 14:35 And if they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is shameful for women to speak in church.

First; I believe the Bible is written in many levels, the first is the stuff, that you see on top when you first read it. Then comes different sub-levels that you come to understand as you grow in the Lord.

I feel that this passage is not an absolute, meaning that it dose not matter what you believe it dose not change the truth of salvation. And it is not something to fight over in the church.

I believe that there are a few things to draw from this passage. First, this is talking about a husband and wife; this is importation because of the meaning of being husband and wife.

The husband is like Jesus Christ (I know maybe not your husband) but hear me out.

The wife is like the church. Jesus is willing to do anything for his church even die for her and enter into Hell, taking all of her sins onto himself. And to love her no matter what. This is the role of the husband to be like Christ onto his wife, total unconditional love. And to go even deeper the husband should love his wife so much that he would be willing to burn in hell for her sins.

The wife on the other hand is like the church and is not required to love the husband so deeply, she is only asked to obey and submit her self onto the husband. Just like the church is asked to obey God’s word and submit ourselves onto Jesus Christ.

Now like I said there are deeper meanings here, we find this passage is also talking about the Holy Spirit and people speaking prophesy and interpreting. The men of the church should be the leaders and should be the ones speaking, it is a shame that in a lot of churches the woman have to lead because the men won’t. I talk with men at work all the time some have even gone to school to be pastors. But they know more about sports then God, they can tell you the name of every player on a team and what their stats are but can’t name 6 out of twelve disciples, or name 5 of the 10 commandments.

But I think that it is also talking to men here as the church. What I mean here is that the church is the women and if she speaks not what is given to her by God then she should be silent. Sometimes you will get men in the church that want you to think that they are spiritual and may stand and give a word of prophesy, but of their own words not of God.

Or they stand up and speak against what was spoken by God because they feel that it was not from God. I know this feeling coming from a Baptist up bring and hearing someone speak in tongs for the first time, I wanted to run out or yell stop. I was told that this was not for today. But instead I did what I was suppose to do, without even knowing it. I prayed and asked God if this was of him and if this was still for today.

I was in Germany in a non English speaking church that broke into tongs and it scared me, I know it was tongs because I had heard it before on TV. But watching it on TV is nothing like being there in the mist of it. Now don’t ask me why I was there, because I really don’t know, I don’t speak German. But as I prayed and asked God if this was of him. I was the women going to the husband and asking for understanding and remaining silent in the church. I did not run or try to stop it, I just prayed. And my answer came for some old German women that stood up right behind me and with the deepest, clearest voice said “ I am The Lord Thy GOD and THIS IS OF ME!!!” I dropped to my knees and praised his name. If I would have not remind silent this would have been shameful. I would have missed God speaking to me.

It is funny but when I started writing this page, I had forgotten about the women that God used to speak to me.

I still believe that the men are suppose to lead and teach in the church, but if they won’t then the women and children will have to. And when they won’t the rocks will speak up.

One more point I would like to bring up. As I said before the church is like the wife and Jesus Christ is the husband. Jesus will not grow a part from the church like so many marriages today have done, if fact God is totally against Divorce, though the law of Moses it is allowed but only in the case of adultery. But even that should not be grounds for divorce. Here is why, adultery is like the church leaving from God and following another if God divorced that church. There would be no repents and they would be dammed to Hell. But God stands by and waits and allows every chance for repents.

The marriage between a man and a women should always be kept Holy, No divorce, adultery, immorality, No wife swapping, Nothing that could mass up the marriage. Work all things out and forgive. And men the burden falls on you. You are to be Christ Like.

Women you are to be like the church, you are to submit and obey but only to Godly things, you do not have to submit to ungodly things.

Men this also dose not mean that you are any better then your wife, you are not a god.

Together you are one body equal in every way.
