We hope the following information will help you navigate the difficult process of funding assistive technology. The important thing is not to assume something is not covered, and to have clear goals as to why you need specific equipment software or training when approaching a funding source.

FREE Computers For Visually Impaired Persons











FREE Computers for Visually Impaired Persons








Texas Center for the Physically Impaired (TCPI) provides computers, free of charge, (with a $100 donation) to visually impaired persons.








Last year, they shipped 400 computers, bringing the total to 1,440 in five years








They are grateful for the generosity of GW Micro, who contribute the Window-Eyes screen reader demos that are installed on the computers we distribute, and to Dean Martineau of Top Dot Enterprises, who furnishes the computer training tutorial that accompanies each computer

The Michigan Disability Rights Coalition











MDRC has established the Assistive Technology Loan Fund to help people with disabilities purchase assistive technology devices and services.








United Cerebral Palsy of Michigan, the Financial Health Credit Union and Centers for Independent Living have joined together to offer this program to persons with disabilities and their family members.








Application sites are experienced in counseling customers about assistive technology devices, services and funding sources.








The Loan Fund provides low-cost financing to persons with disabilities to purchase assistive technology devices that allow for greater access, increased mobility, enhanced communication and job opportunities.

Michigan's Assistive Technology Resource











Grants that schools can apply to in order to receive funding.








Provides information services, support materials, technical assistance, and training of local and intermediate school districts in Michigan to increase their capacity to address the needs of students with disabilities for assistive technology.

Children's Special Health Care Services











Assistive technology devices may sometimes be covered by private health insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid, or Children's Special Health Care Services.
