Quiche Lorraine

Makes:

6 servings

Ingredients:

 

1

frozen pie shell
  1 egg, white only
  ¼ lb sliced bacon
  2 c cream or milk
  3 eggs
  ¼ tsp salt
  dash pepper
  dash nutmeg (optional)
  1 tsp chives, chopped
  ½ c French Swiss or Gruyère cheese

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375o.

  2. Sprinkle in the bottom of the pie shell the bacon and the cheese. 

  3. Pour the custard mixture over it.     

  4. Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until the top is a golden brown. 

 

Tip: Frozen pie shells work great.  Just brush them with the egg white.  Also, for the bacon bits, you can use one of those bags of fresh bacon bits from the store.  Voilá
