2000 12"x 12"x 5'2" Etched glass, bronze
The model I took for this glass maze comes from the hexagonal labyrinth drawn on the floor of the Chartres cathedral, symbolizing the idea of life, death, and rebirth. The monarch butterflies have become a symbol of entrapment and rebirth in the fragile equilibrium of nature. This reminds me of a phrase my father used to use: "Push nature away and she will come back galloping."
