1.  JOHN¹ HENDERSON¹ was born Abt. 1790 in Dumfries, Prince William County, Virginia, and died Abt. 1845 in Charles County, Maryland.  He married WINIFRED (VIRGINIA) ANN MADDOX² Aft. 1800, daughter of RHOADY MADDOX and ELIZABETH.  She was born in Charles  County, Maryland.

 

Notes for JOHN HENDERSON:

John Henderson came to Charles County, Maryland from Dumfries, Prince William County, Virginia before 1800 (died about 1845), and married Winifred (Virginia) Ann Maddox, daughter of Rhoady and Elizabeth Maddox of Nanjemoy, Charles County, Maryland. It is believed that John Henderson was closely related to "Alex. Henderson who lived at Colchester on Creek" . as George Washington wrote of him in his diary as a near neighbor. He was a member of the vestry of Old Truro or Pohich Church at the same time as Washington.

Notes for GEORGE BRADFORD DAVIS:

Death Certificate states that bate of birth is Feb. 7 1881. It also lists George as being an employee at Indian Head and a farmer. The Death Certificate lists his father James L. Davis the informant of his death.

 

George was said to be a waterman in addition to the occupations listed on the Death Certificate. His wife Leola Murdock said that he was a good man who was very religious. He was partially bald (male pattern baldness) and sported a mustache in the only photo available to this writer. This writer was told that George had caught pneumonia after falling overboard fishing nets on the Potomac and that was what lead to his untimely death. The Death Certificate does not bear this out as it lists the cause of death as tuberculosis, which was very common at that time. His first son James Russell Davis preceded him in death at the age of 11 months. (DOD 07-27-16)
