Here's some shots that I took this Sunday up on Gauley Ridge, it still
doesn't show just how steep this can be, but it does give some idea of
the challenges that exist. The last shot is the lunch/camp stop about halfway
up the trail. You can see the firepit, but you can't see the stream that
runs right behind it.
Second Mountain Trail
You may have noticed that one of the vehicles in these
shots isn't a Jeep! Well the owner knows it and is real proud of it!!
A bad end to an otherwise great day!!
After running strong all day long, and sending my new friends on their
way while I took a couple more pics, my starter cooked out at the top of
the mountain. It was a 2 mile walk down the trail to the main road and
another 2 mile walk to the nearest payphone. Luckily I got hold of a cab
and got a new starter and back to the YJ before dark set in!. And a big
hearty thanks to Yellow Cab 7 who took me as far up the trail as his cab
could get!
