PROGRAMS
- Family Assistance—The Herndon-Reston FISH, Inc. Family Assistance program operates from 10 a.m. through 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. FISH provides services to callers located within the Herndon-Reston area. Financial assistance is given by FISH for the purpose of enabling the caller to meet short-term emergency needs.
- Transportation—Volunteers provide transportation to medical appointments for the elderly or those who are unable to drive.
- The Bargain Loft—The Bargain Loft is an all-volunteer thrift store operated by Herndon-Reston FISH. It has served local residents since 1981 and provides
almost 50% of FISH’s annual budget. The Bargain Loft needs good quality saleable items and provides donors with a receipt for tax purposes. We accept and sell:
Art, Furniture, Jewelry, Household Linens, Dishes, Pots and Pans, Books, Toys, Tapes and CDs, Collectibles, Small Electronics and more.
- Thanksgiving and Holiday Baskets—Food and gift baskets are prepared by volunteers and given to needy people as designated by social workers at Fairfax County Human Services.
- Speakers Bureau—Herndon-Reston FISH will gladly provide a speaker to explain the work of our organization.
