Announcing the
2009 Nine Hours of CRR
A G-Jet IROC Style Endurance Race Benefitting The
Ethan Duda College Fund.
June 27, 2009

The Nine Hours of CRR will be held Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the Siberia Racing facility in Naperville, Illinois.  This race is a benefit event and all entry fees will be donated to the Ethan Duda college fund.  Ethan is the son of Todd Duda who was tragically taken from us some years ago.  Todd was a fellow racer and friend and this race is held in his honor.  As with the 2007 enduro, the race will use four identical lighted BSRT G-Jet cars that will remain in their respective lanes for the entire event.  The five, four man teams will rotate three times around the track.  The first and last rotations will be in daylight.  The middle rotation will be run at “night” with room lights turned off.  As with previous endurance races at CRR the track direction will be reversed while racing at “night.  The fleet of Porsche 917K G-jets are owned by John "Zipper" Duda who has graciously loaned them to many IROC races including this one.  These are the same four G-Jets that were used in the 2007 enduro.   For the 2009 race the cars will be updated with brighter, more durable LED headlights and more durable body posts.  As seen earlier this year and in the following photo a spoiler has been added between the rear wings of the yellow and red cars to give them a bit more rear end grip for the gutter lanes. This should reduce the center lane advantage and tighten up the race.   Details of the new headlight system that will be also be used in the 2009 Nuvolari Enduro and the 2009 24 Hours of KSR can be seen here.   The headlights are tinted the lane color to aid in car identification.

The IROC 917K G-Jets

The 2007 G-jet enduro at CRR was a huge success and there has been significant interest in this years event. Therefore, this years enduro has been expanded to include five (5) teams.  Each team must have four (4) drivers.  The race will consist of three (3) rotations of the track, 15 segments, with each segment being 45 minutes in length.  Because of the location of the drivers stations there will be no driver changes during the segment.  There will be a one minute track call at each segments halfway point and between segments.  Driver changes will be allowed only at this time.

Each team will have three 45 minute sit out periods during the race.  The team sitting out does not have to marshal or remain at the race site. Once started the race will be controlled by the computer and, should a team leave the site during a sitout, the race will not wait for the team to return..  Each team actively racing on the track must have one marshal. The marshal is not allowed to work on any car. at the track.  Unlike the 2007 enduro, each team is responsible for maintenance and repairs on the car they are racing.  Should a car not be running at the end of a segment the race will be held up to five (5) minutes to allow the new team to complete repairs.

CRR In The Day

Track calls will be for a car on the floor or a car in the main straight that cannot be reached by a marshal.  To aid in marshaling at night five low intensity LED lights have been added above CRR to light key marshalling areas.  Also new are 3, 2, 1 braking posts at the entrance to each hairpin and at the entrance to the M&M turns.  These three white posts really help you find your braking points during the night.

CRR At Night

At a result of expanding the race to five teams the race will be approximately 12 Hours in length.  CRR will be open from 7:00PM to 9:00PM on Friday June 26th for practice.  On race day the track will open at 7:30AM for only twenty minutes of practice.  Qualifying will be at 7:50AM.  The qualifying car will be supplied by the track owner.  Top qualifier has lane choice.  The race will start at 8:00AM.  The night segments will start at noon and end at approximately 4:00PM.  The race will end at approximately 8:00PM.

The entry fee is $100 per team.  A $500 check to the Ethan Duda college fund will be on display at the race. Entries will be accepted for this years race beginning at 8:00AM central daylight time (CDT), April 4, 2009. To enter send an e-mail to sdm2831 @ hotmail.com. No early entries will be accepted. The e-mail note shall include the Team Name and contact information for the team lead and three of the four drivers. The fourth driver can be nominated at any time. The five teams entered will be contacted on or before Monday April 5, 2009. A 50% deposit will be required for each team by April 18, 2009. CRR reserves the right to exclude any team or team member at any time.
