Medford High School
Originally opened in May 1835 in a single room in a building behind the Unitarian Church.
In 1843, the High School was moved into a new building which was renovated and enlarged a number of times.
In May 1896, a new large brick building on Forest Street was dedicated.
The Forest Street building was used until just after 1965 when the present building on Winthrop was built.Medford H.S. yearbooks are available from 1915 to the present at the Medford Public Library.

Tufts University
Established by the Universalist denomination in 1852 on land donated by Charles Tufts. The land included Walnut Hill, now known as College Hill. When Tufts College opened in 1854 it was the fourth school of higher learning in the state. It was renamed Tufts University in 1955. No religious requirements have ever been imposed on the university community. Women were not allowed to attend until 1892.
