1) What are the dates August 28 (pm) Aug 29 and Aug 30

2) There used to be quite a few "specialty" impressions, doctors, Major
Generals, flag corps, that kind of stuff, what have you been allowing
them to do or not do? I know in the past they would not even attend the
officer's meeting to let us know what they were planning on doing, I
would like to avoid that if at all possible.
The military command structure is to be followed. There will be
portrayals in the Step Back in Time and/or Special Impressions areas
that do not interact with the military camps, drills or battles in any
fashion. (for instance General Grant my speak to the public but has no
connection to the “actual military”)Lincoln has an entourage and the
like but once again they are separate in all fashions from the command
structure for drill camp and battle.

3) Artillery personnel, who is going to be in charge of them, and could
they please attend the officer's call as well
The artillery is overseen by Battery D and specifically John Clark and
Jim Newkirk. Newkirk retains overall control and Clark and Newkirk each
oversee direct field operations during the battle scenarios. They would
be/are expected to participate in your officer calls and will do so.
They also will inspect every piece and crew for safety before they are
allowed on the field.

4) Cavalry, same as above
Michigan Cav Brigade is overall in charge of cav they have chosen to go
grey the past few years and would also be at officers meetings.
Another small contingent has come last couple of years (Michigan
Historical society) they have only a few mounts and are exclusively
union and would be under Shackleford’s command.

5) Camp site, no special request, just will civilian and military be
separate?
As separate as our limited space allows. Confederate troops will be
camped near the corner of Levant and Smalley Union troops “near the
trees” by the paved path with civilian contingents in between the two
military camps. Civilians are not allowed to camp in military camps but
as I know you are aware there is virtually no buffer area between the
sea of civilian tents and the military camps. Just not a lot of space
to put them. Civilians are overseen by the 14th SC to the best of our
ability.

6) Will there be any special ground features this year?
Friday evening’s skirmish will take place in the special impressions
area in the “town” with what we believe will have anywhere from 4 to 8
false front buildings
The Saturday and Sunday Scenarios will have limited modifications to
site at least in our current planning perhaps a haphazardly thrown works
by troops but little else. Ground charges or other pyrotechnics have not
occurred for a number of years do to liability/insurance issues.

7) What, if any, scenario or battle would you like to represent?
Friday evening Skirmish is Brownsville Kentucky. Early war scenario in
which confederate troops entered a town seeking medical supplies. They
encounter a small contingent of union troops who are driven from the
town. The actual skirmish had one rebel cannon no union artillery.

Saturday is a portion of Antietam chosen as it was the battle reenacted
at the first Jackson 25 years ago. The portion of the action will be
that where Burnsides is pushing confederate troops and appears nearing
breaking lines when reinforcements arrive from Harper’s Ferry and smash
into the flank breaking the intitiative.

Sunday is Sayler’s Creek with little content yet discussed but likely
the portion of the battle where there was a confederate rally and push
which was then broken by union troops and would include some
surrender/capture of portions of the troops to end the scenario. We
have also discussed a more formalized surrender activity or a post
battle Appomattox activity as yet to be determined
