There is a nice little secret that was shared by Sergeant-Major Jessen that will help this work out right every time. Before giving the command 'IN
TWO RANKS - FORM COMPANY. LEFT FACE -
MARCH', the ISGT must walk from the right of the company to the left of the company and count the men in the ranks. He then stands in front of the last even numbered man and instructs him to remain faced to the front and not to move. Now give the 'IN TWO RANKS - FORM COMPANY. LEFT FACE - MARCH' command. The 1 SGT should walk back to the right of the line supervising the men as they form two ranks. If the center CPL's have fallen in by height, move them (along with their covering rear rank men) to the proper platoon breaks before issuing the command 'IN EACH RANKS - COUNT TWO'S.'
