Subject: Antietam historical info
Dear sir,
As a 4th Texan I would like to provide some book titles that our Battalion can read to gain information on what Hood's Texas Brigade did at Antietam.
I have also included titles on Antietam itself.
They are:
"Hood's Texas Brigade" by Polley
"Rebel Private Front and Rear" by William Fletcher
"Advance and Retreat" by General John B. Hood
"Chaplin Davis and Hood's Texas Brigade" Edited by Donald E. Everett
"Hood's Texas Brigade in Poetry and Song" by Harold B. Simpson
"Hood's Texas Brigade: Lee's Grenadier Guard" by Harold B. Simpson
Other books on the Antietam Campaign:
"Landscape Turned Red" by Stephen Sears
"Before Antietam" by Priest
"Antietam" by Priest
"Promise of Glory" by C.X. Moreau
"Crossroads of Freedom - Antietam" by James Mc Pherson
The best tour guide I have found:
"Guide to the Battle of Antietam" by Jay Luvass & Harold W. Nelson
Thank you,
Dave Prince
Thank You Dave
Let me take the liberty to include one of my favorites.
The Gleam of Bayonets
The Battle of Antietam and Robert E. Lee’s Maryland Campaign, September 1862
James V. Murfin
Introduction by James I. Robertson, Jr.
New Foreword by Scott Hartwig
And that concludes the Literary Corner by Dave Prince for today.
