This Tesla Coil has been built by my son-in-law. These pictures are time exposures, showing multiple strikes. The strikes that seem to end nowhere at the right side of the pictures are actually striking the assembly tower, parts of which are more than 20 feet from the coil. The tower can be seen to the right of the coil in the first photo, next to the building. Believe me, when this thing is running it is noisy. You should wear hearing protection.

It was clear with no wind the night these photos were taken. (Wind seriously affects the bolts.) Someone called the fire department because they thought a power pole transformer was arching. When the fire department arrived (along with a policeman) and discovered what it was, they wanted a demonstration. One of the firemen even got his camera and took pictures himself. The policeman summoned another policeman and he wanted a demonstration too. There were lots of questions and amazement by the visitors.
