PEACH FESTIVAL NEWS

Tell your friends and mark your calendars for August 8 from 11 – 2 for this family-fun event!  Here’s how you can help:

Peach Fest fliers:  We’ve placed fliers on the tract table and in the Fellowship Lobby – please take some fliers & post them on the windows of your local businesses or bulletin boards of your community groups (Lions Club, Kiwanis, Girl/Boy Scouts, etc.).

Potential Vendors:  If you have a small business or know someone who does (crafts, jewelry-making, cosmetic products, soaps, candles, etc.) we are currently accepting vendor applications. Interested vendors should contact Rita Gribbell (jrgribbell@yahoo.com) for an application for a $10 booth space (tables can be rented for an additional $5 each, supplies are limited).  If parishioners know of any interested vendors, please pass the word on to them!

Donated Items:  We’re looking for items to fill a wagon handmade and donated by Tom & Carolyn Mitchell.  The wagon with its contents will be placed in a raffle.  A marked box will be in the Fellowship Lobby for your donations.

We can always use help with the children’s entertainment (such as the loan of a moon bounce castle) or general entertainment (we need singers, dancers, or musicians), and assistance in food preparation & baking.

Contact Amy Parker at amparker@verizon.net if you can help us with any of the abovementioned tasks!  This is an important fund-raising effort by the Women of St. Mary’s to pay for the restoration & framing of the historic chancel oil paintings.

Thanks in advance for anything you can do to help make this year’s Festival a BIG hit.

*PARISHIONERS PEACH FESTIVAL PREPARATION/SCHEDULING*

The day of the Festival - we've broken into small time slots, if you can help all day, that's great, if you can only help for a bit, that's great too! If you only have a few hours that day that you can assist, set up or clean up are the big projects of the day, we'd appreciate all the help we can get.

  • 9:30-11 - Set up
  • 11-12:30 - Cashiers, peach slicers, help with tot lot, pit beef sales, etc.
  • 12:30-2 - Cashiers, peach slicers, help with tot lot, pit beef sales, etc.
  • 2-3:30 - Clean Up (tables put away, tents taken down, helping vendors with their clean up - bringing tables back over to the hall, etc)

*Raffle* - We'll be raffling off a handmade wagon with its contents.

*Vendors* - This is something very new to us. The plan is to charge $?? for a space, another $? for us to provide a table with the space. We will be putting the vendors in the Church parking lot so they have a chance to be seen from the road. If you are interested in selling at one of these spaces, or know someone who is, let me know. If you'd be interested in helping me with this endeavor as my time is limited and could use all the help I can get, I'd be very grateful! If you know anything about this process, your insight would be welcome as well.

*Entertainment*- As it stands right now in the planning stages, we may have ???, but we'd love more entertainment. If you know anyone willing to play an instrument or sing, face paint, run a kids game (and has the materials to do so), or have any other entertainment ideas you can come up with, we'd love to hear them!

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

Above is a flier advertising our August 8 Peach Festival.  If you can help us in any way, here are the areas where we REALLY need assistance:

(1) Promote our Festival.  Take the fliers and post them in your local businesses, hand them out to your neighbors, put them in your local community organizations' bulletin boards, etc.  Extra copies are being left on the church's tract table and in the Fellowship Lobby.  You can e-mail the flier found above to your friends beyond the church. Don't know how to capture the flier and e-mail it, contact our WebMaster. Please help us SPREAD THE WORD!

(2) Recruit Vendors.  If you have a small business or know someone who does (crafts, jewelry, cosmetic products, candles, etc.) please let them know that we're accepting vendor applications right now!  Interested vendors should contact Rita Gribbell (jrgribbell@yahoo.com) for an application for a $10 booth space (tables can be rented for an additional $5 each, supplies are limited).  No phone calls, please.

(3) Donate Raffle Items.  Tom and Carolyn Mitchell have built/painted a lovely wagon and donated it towards our Raffle efforts.  We'd like to fill the wagon with more donated items.  If you have something that you'd like to donate, please contact Amy Parker (amparker@verizon.net).

(4) Assist with Sale of Raffle Tickets.  We need people to help us sell tickets for the raffle in advance.  We also need to recruit someone knowledgeable in advising us on how the sale of raffle tickets is accomplished!

(5) Need to Borrow a Moon Bounce Castle.  If you can help man the kids' craft tables, do face paintings, dress up as a clown, or loan us a moon bounce castle or other items for 3 hours, please let us know.

(6) Provide Entertainment.  Can you play the banjo, sing, dance, or do you perform in a band?  If you can recruit folks who are willing to perform free of charge, we'd love to have them!  If they're professional performers, they can hand out fliers about their act to help advertise their future
performances (or sell their cds) at our event.

(7) Prepare or Bake.  We need help in preparing and/or selling the food, peeling and cutting peaches, making baked goods for the Bake Table, etc. We will be baking in the Parish Hall as a team in the days leading up to the Peach Festival.  Lots of help needed.  Need more details?
Email Jill Wiggan at jillwiggan@msn.com or call (410-671-7968) Sign up sheet on Tract Table with available dates.

(8) Peach Festival Committee Members.  We've formed a committee but can always use more members!

If you can assist us in any of the abovementioned categories or have any questions, please contact me (Amy Parker, President of the WoSM), at 410-838-6845, or amparker@verizon.net.  Thank you for anything you can do to help us in these efforts!
