| A week or so ago the Harley Owners Group started a bike ride in San Diego, which followed highway 80 crossing the United States culminating in a grand parade onto Tybee Island Saturday. Not all of the riders made the entire coast-to-coast trip, though some did. Around noon Saturday a group of about two to three hundred bikers paraded from a congregating point on Wilmington Island for the final leg to Tybee Island, arriving en masse around 1:30 pm. Some mentioned that the morning dawned bright and clear and the rain didn't pour from the sky until they actually mounted their bikes in Savannah, and it finally cleared about the time they parked their bikes at Memorial Park. Riders included young and old, children and grown, men and women. They were a great group to have visit the island and were a welcome addition to those who browsed the local artist's booths displaying their art, and made welcome purchases. |
