The 8th ANNUAL WHITE ROSE GAMEROOM SHOW

Friday, October 8th - Saturday, October 9th, 2004

York, PA Fairgrounds

This year I had no 15 ft rental truck, breaking a 2 yr tradition. I took my Honda Accord to the show with the intention of trading with Tim Smith at Pinball Parts Plus, a great source of Gottlieb parts by the way, some of my lost stash of NOS pin parts and Pingame Journals from various years for some various parts I needed. So, the deal was to come back home with some pin parts, maybe a playfield to hang on the wall, yeah right:)

I took my usual two Wal-greens 35 mm cameras, my Sony Digital mavicam, and as an addition, my Sony 8 mm hifi camcorder. I left my house with the car loaded up at 3:10 am, Wednesday morning. After I checked in at the hotel, I headed to Old Sled Works in Duncannon, PA, just 45 minutes from York. If you haven't seen my tour, click here. I also caught a few minutes of video there, and it opens the dvd's I have for sale of The York Show. I stayed at The York Show all day Thursday, Friday, and left Saturday around 4 pm. The tapes had run out around 3 pm, so I played a few pins and hit the road. The whole time I slept very little, but who could. I had so much fun! Erik Selak, one of the show's promoters told me, "This was the best show ever!"

The show once again took place in the Horticulture Hall, a smaller hall, but it does the job. Once again, quite an assortment of games. The star of the show was definately Dave Martin's "Fathom" pin. I think he had offers for a couple thousand to sell it and it wasn't for sale! You can see this gem in action all over my dvd's, which I have for sale. I interviewed every buyer, seller, and spectator I could find inside and outside. Throughout the dvd's, you will see sellers talk about games they have for sale, and they provide contact information if you with to buy a pin from them that didn't sell at the show! Order my dvd's HERE.

If you should end up buying or selling a pin, long after the show has ended, please email me about it. I'd add this to the site. Last year, Eight Ball Deluxe and Firepower 2 sold after the show ended just from others seeing my pics online.

If you wish to get more information about this awesome show, go to The White Rose Gameroom site. The dates are already set, and you can count on me being there once again, cameras and camcorder in hand. You have been warned;)

If you want to see past York and Allentown shows I've been to, click here. I started with just a handful of pics, spending a couple hours at shows on Saturdays, way back when....

It was around 9:30 am Thursday morning, with a couple hours to go before show setup, so I ended up catching a few pre show things.

Watch those steroids, Snoopy.

I got the shots by pulling into this parking lot across the street.

I didn't do it, I swear.

Too bad I don't play golf. It's right around the corner from Best Western.

I arrived at the fairgrounds around 10:15 I think. After a few minutes, Gene Cunningham arrived, but we both realized we were over an hour early. I didn't feel like heading back, but he went back to hotel with his wife to get breakfast. I started walking around and.....

found this around the corner.

This is Pfaltzgraff's semi annual sale. So, I looked around and got my mom a mantel clock that has two small porcelain drawers to store stuff and the clock face swings out to hang keys behind it. That's one less holiday gift to mess with, too cool.

Marlin Barshinger arrives around 11:30 with the giveaway pin, Williams' Blackout.

The winner was Brian Montalbano

The flea market area. Marlin is driving around marking off the spots.

Look at that ocean blue sky. Two years in a row of good weather. What were the odds of that? Turn right at the sign on foot to get to the Horticultural building. It's just up the driveway.

John Patterson arrives with a rare Bally "Six Sticks." I thought Six Million Dollar Man was the first 6 player pin, but apparently I was wrong. Gene Cunningham actually tells me this on the dvd footage from this show, which did I mention is FOR SALE;) Small world by the way. John sold me a Night Rider EM three shows ago and I still have it. I did get first shot at buying this rare Six Sticks pin, but I said, no way, no more pins, and I didn't bring a truck anyway. No more pins. I'm done, yeah, right. We'll see about that. Oh, and Gene promptly snatched up this pin by the way. Hey, that cabinet art, particularly the arrow design at the bottom bears a striking resemblance to the Hootenanny pin I used to own. I Ebayed the pin about a year ago, before Hurricane Isabel hit here, and the seller wanted it so bad, he came from Kissemee, FL to pick up the pin here in VA, with my part of the woods trashed. No power, trees down all over the roads.

Eric Selak, one of the show's organizers has arrived shortly before noon. Let the setup begin.
