IGBO NEWS
Lots
of IGBO news this month, so sit back,
relax and enjoy! First off, thanks
for all who participated in the mail-in
tournament. Winners will be
announced in Atlanta at the IGBO Annual
Tournament (more on that later).
There are 2 IGBO raffles taking place
now. The first is the multi-city
raffle for the spring season.
Tickets are $1 each, with cash prizes
going out to the top 10 winners.
The top 3 winners also receive a Storm
bowling ball and a prepaid entry to the
mid-year tournament in San Diego in
November. The grand prize winner
receives a 3 night's stay at the host
hotel in San Diego. Tickets must
be purchased by April 23rd. The
other raffle taking place is for the
Northeast Regional Gift Basket (of which
we still have time to make a donation if
we so choose). Tickets for this
are $5 each OR 3 for $10. Some of
the prizes in the basket include an IPOD,
$200 Visa gift card, 2 round-trip
tickets on Midwest Airlines, his/her
Storm watches, a digital camera, and
many others. A complete list of
prizes is available on the counter near
where Tim is bowling. Tickets must
be purchased by March 26th.
Syracuse
won the bid for the Mid Year Tournament
2009, so this raffle is a way for us to
help support them in their fund-raising
efforts. Also, the IGBO national
newsletter is out for the spring and is
available from
Tim.
As
I mentioned earlier, the Annual
Tournament is in Atlanta this year from
May 21-26th (Memorial Day
weekend). I will be attending the
tourney and I know Christian has
expressed interest in going as
well. Entry fee is $99 per person,
if entered by 4/23 and $109 if after
that date. If you would like to
bring a non-bowling friend or just want
to attend without bowling, the fee is
$45, which gets you into the banquet and
the hotel parties. You can
register online (www.igbo2008.org), but
if there are more than one of us going,
it is best for only one person to
register the team (assuming we want to
bowl on the same team!) The host
hotel is the Omni Hotel at CNN Center
(they film CNN across the street).
Rooms are available from $99-109 and can
room up to 4. I know Christian was
asking about airfares, so I'll share
what I found. For the dates I
chose (I'm staying from Wed-Wed), the
price was $244 (w/ tax). There
were cheaper prices out there, but the
times didn't work for me. Anyway,
I would be glad to answer any questions
you may have about the tournament or
about IGBO in
general.
NEW
LEAGUE SECRETARY!
We
are happy to announce that Holly has
stepped up to volunteer her services as
League Secretary, replacing Christine
for the rest of the season. We're
breaking her in slowly! Be sure
and say thanks when you see her tonight!
A
SAD GOODBYE
It
is with a heavy heart that we say
farewell to 2 of our fellow bowlers this
month. Chip & Dan are
relocating to Pennsylvania soon as Chip
has accepted a job transfer. Guys,
let me just say it has been a real
pleasure bowling with you and getting to
know you. You will be
missed! And Dan....we'll always
have Syracuse!!
Don't
forget about our website, which is http://home.comcast.net/~MerrimackGNL/.
