Runaway was actually at previous CA Extreme shows, but I didn't even
realize it was an unreleased game until I started up this page. Anyway
as you can see I was sure to get some pictures at the
1999 show. The machine is still running fine and is in great condition.
One of the pictures is of the control panel. It looks like the controls
may have changed after the panel was made... especially replacing a
four way joystick with a simple up/down flipswitch to control your speed
going forwards or reverse. You can flip the track intersections with one
button and jump with another button. You try to collect all the swinging
mailbags while avoiding other trains. You can also collect a caboose which
you can use as a shield to ram other trains. After each round you have the
option of jumping to a higher level. One of the pictures shows this.
The blurs are actually your train - the nice happy red train, and a
mean enemy blue train chasing you. Anyway, I can see why this game wasn't
released since the action isn't very fast, the game is on the easy side,
and gameplay is a little dull being stuck on the track.
