Jett's Public House & Siblings Spotlight

(From the August - October, 2005 Newsletter)

Two new establishments have been added to the touring schedule. The above two pubs are owned by the same family. Brother Mike runs the newly remodeled Jett’s on Milwaukee Ave., just south of Devon Avenue (and Super Dog) in the Norwood Park neighborhood. Sister Janice operates Siblings on Howard Street, just west of Gulliver’s Pizza. Both of these places are fun to work.

Jett’s is newer (the beginning of 2005), and has been remodeled. The old “Wally’s Polish Pump Room” has definitely taken on a new look – new tables, a new bar, blue candlelight sconces on the tables for a classy tough, etc. This writer had never been to Wally’s, but patrons tell me this is a vast improvement. Additionally, Mike is about to open his kitchen, which will feature pizza, sandwiches and bar favorites to accompany his libations.

Siblings is older, and more a shot and beer joint, although a limited food menu is available. Table space is limited here, since the bar takes up a good portion of the area, as well as dart boards that adorn the walls. But don’t let that deter you. Good times abound here, as they do at Jett’s. We’re looking at one coming upon on Thursday, August 18, when we will celebrate Miss Janice’s birthday (I won’t divulge the number), as we'll as party till we drop. Let’s start about 8:00, and take it as far as it goes.

The normal visit to Siblings is once a month. Jett’s performances are Sundays. Usually the second and fourth of the month but that sometimes changes. Consult the web site, or call me to be certain. These are fun places with good people and atmosphere. Don’t miss them.
