Lindy's Landing Spotlight
(From the April-June, 2003 Newsletter)
On the west shore of Bangs Lake in Wauconda sits a marina/ restaurant/bar known as Lindy’s Landing, that has been family-run for many years. Grandpa originally ran the operation as a launching area for pleasure boats, with the bar run mainly as a convenience for boaters and friends. With the passing of the baton, the operation is now run by Grandpa’s three daughters and granddaughter, Brittany. While the marina is still very much alive, emphasis has now been placed on utilizing the overall operation to its maximum – i.e., the bar, the kitchen and even, on occasion, live entertainment. Such entertainment is where this writer fits in, so Lindy’s is now on the itinerary several times a year. Crowds have been excellent, response has been positive and while not set up for music (most of the places I work are not), manages to work, nonetheless, with a bit of imagination. The kitchen is now run full-time (the fish fry has drawn many raves, as have many of the daily specials), the bar is staying open much later than usual and people are returning more often.
Besides all the inside amenities (it looks as though one has just stepped into a Northern Wisconsin bar), there is plenty of room outside for barbeques, corporate outings and family get-togethers (Wedding receptions have even been held here. I know – I worked one a few years ago). And parking is ample, too. Come visit the new Lindy’s when the opportunity arises. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by what’s transpired, and by the friendliness of the staff. Here’s to good times on the shores of Bangs Lake.
