Mystery Science Theater 3000 and its characters are the property of Best Brains, Inc.

Note to 'Bot Bash attendees who have won one-sheets and lobby cards in the past: If you don't see your prize here, it's because I didn't get a decent picture of it before giving it away. If you'd be so kind as to send a photo of it to me, I'll add it to the collection.

Below are thumbnails of original theatrical release one-sheets, lobby cards, soundtrack albums, and other advertising materials for targets of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Click on any image to the left to see a full-size version.

Definitions and Sources

A one-sheet is a standard 27"x41" movie poster. The rarer half-sheet is a 13.5"x41" poster, usually similar to the one-sheet. A lobby card is 14"x11". There is usually just a single one-sheet issued for a movie, but there are exceptions to this (especially starting in the '80s). One-sheets got the name because there are also two-sheets, three-sheets, and even more-sheets, which join together to form a much larger poster. These are rare, but did get issued from time to time. Even for cheesy movies. For instance, The Unearthly had a two-sheet issued.

Older one-sheets, like the ones seen here, usually consisted of stylized paintings depicting something exciting from the film (or not from the film, in the case of many MST3K targets).

Lobby cards, named for the fact that they're strewn about the lobby for the unsuspecting public to goggle at once they've been lured inside by the one-sheet, are generally distributed in sets of six to ten different cards.

Lobby cards generally feature color (or colorized) stills from the film. In the case of cheaper production companies, it will be black & white stills (viz Santa Claus Conquers the Martians).

Several of the one-sheets that appear here were found on the alt.binaries.pictures.misc newsgroup. Some of those are of middling quality. Most of the lobby cards and other items are from my collection; I found quite a bit during a stay in Hollywood a couple of years ago. Most of the all-black & white items are from books and magazines.
