A closeup of model Barbara Moore and the finished "Photo Fanny," painted on the Air Museum's North American B-25 Mitchell bomber a few years ago by pilot and artist Teresa Stokes. The photo above is greatly cropped and reduced from the 1996 Tantalizing TakeoffsTM calendar, a mostly '40s-style calendar which has some good pictures. I bought it mainly for this picture, since I didn't have a good close shot of the completed artwork. ![]()
The original "Photo Fanny" design was on a B-24 bomber refitted for photo reconnaisance flights during WWII. Air Force Museum
I think the best picture in that calendar, however, is this one (again, greatly cropped and reduced from the original), featuring Kelly Gallagher and a Pitts Special aerobatic biplane. I think the composition and color combinations - red plane, red gas pump, neat pink gown, red hair - make this a very snazzy photo indeed.
Now, since the two color pictures are copyright RML Productions, just in case the publisher happens upon this page, maybe they'll let me keep it here if I give you the phone number where you can order the calendar: 1-800-944-1327. You can also visit the RML web site if you like.
